Rev. Dr. Zandra L. Jordan
Rev. Dr. Zandra L. Jordan is the Director of the Hume Center for Writing and Speaking at Stanford University and a chaplain affiliate with Stanford’s Office for Religious and Spiritual Life. Trained in rhetoric and homiletics, she holds a B.A. in English from Spelman College, a M.A.T in English from Brown University, a MDiv from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology, and a PhD in English and Education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Prior to joining the Stanford community, Dr. Jordan was the founding director of a seminary writing center and served as Minister of Adult Christian Education at Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta. She now serves at University AME Zion Church in Palo Alto as part of the ministerial team. Dr. Jordan’s scholarly interests include womanist theology and writing/speaking pedagogies, racial justice in writing program administration, and Black women’s sermonic traditions. She is a proud member of the San Francisco-Peninsula Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and the San Jose (CA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated.
