ORSL Statement on the Bombing in Peshawar

Main content start

The Office for Religious and Spiritual Life extends its condolences to the Muslim community on campus and around the world for the 64 lives lost in the mosque bombing in Peshawar.

Cardinal Red Decorative Accent

The limited coverage is especially painful in the continued marginalization of the Muslim community. The overwhelming majority of victims of terrorism are Muslims, which is rarely highlighted in media coverage. The March 4th attack was inside a mosque on Friday prayers, which is the holiest time of the week for Muslims and the time when mosques are at their fullest. The target was a Shia mosque, which is another manifestation of evil in an attempt to fuel sectarian divisions. Shia Muslims in America are a minority within a minority. We acknowledge their pain and the lives lost. We pray for their families and pray for a world where such senseless murder no longer exists.

Resources to Help a Student in Distress

NEW Counseling and Psychological Services website

The CAPS website has undergone a major revision to help students more easily navigate and identify services and resources to meet their mental health needs. Students provided feedback and guidance for the website design to create a more streamlined and student-centered experience. Colorful tiles with detailed descriptions assist to make the site more inviting and clarify the intake process for CAPS services.
